| The shrine of the Cathedral´s
patrons, as the shrine of Epiphanius is also
called, is located below the altar slab of
the high altar. It is a work dating to the
first half of the 12th century.
This golden shrine contains relics of the
Cathedral´s patrons. Six saints, among
them Cosmas, Damian, and Epiphanius, are
depicted on its narrow sides. The long sides
show the parable of the smart and the foolish
maidens along with the parable of the talents
which are to be multiplied - an allusion
to the exemplary life work of the saints.
